Part L & Lighting Controls

An overview of the components and calculations of the revised Building Regulation Part L2A/ L2B “New Buildings other than Dwellings” and changes to the 2010 Regulations.

Part L is a statutory instrument and not a series of recommendations and came into force in 2014. The standard introduces the concept of the Lighting Energy Numeric Indicator (LENI) which is used to express the total amount of energy used by a lighting system, per square metre, per annum.
It requires a significant increase in lighting efficiency and lighting controls play a bigger part than ever, offering solutions to achieve this criteria. Lighting efficacy calculations must be made available as part of the approval process and this presentation offers guidance on lighting, lighting controls metering and verification on illustrating these requirements.
